Common Questions

The widget shows the wrong content mode

Open Sober Thoughts, go to SettingsContent Mode, and confirm your choice. Then long-press the widget on your home screen, tap Edit Widget, and make sure the content source matches. iOS caches widget data for up to 30 minutes — if nothing changes, try removing and re-adding the widget.

My subscription isn’t working

I’d like a refund

Apple handles all refunds directly — we don’t have the ability to issue them. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and select the Sober Thoughts purchase. Refund decisions are made by Apple, usually within 48 hours. If Apple declines and you feel you have a legitimate case, email us and we’ll advocate on your behalf.

Notifications aren’t arriving

Check that notifications are enabled in three places: inside the Sober Thoughts app (SettingsDaily Reminders), in iOS (Settings appSober ThoughtsNotifications), and that Focus / Do Not Disturb isn’t silencing them.

I want to change my content mode

Open the app, go to SettingsContent Mode. Pick Faith & Program, Mindful & Open, Science & Self, or All Paths. You can switch at any time and your existing widgets will update within 30 minutes.

A quote is wrong, misattributed, or feels harmful

Thank you for flagging it. Editorial accuracy and emotional safety matter to us. Email us the exact quote text and we’ll review and correct it in the next content update.

Can I use Sober Thoughts without an account?

Yes. We don’t have accounts. Everything is stored locally on your iPhone. Your sobriety date, your favorites, your settings — none of it leaves your device. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

Will there be an Android version?

Not at launch. Widget-first design depends heavily on platform-specific widget APIs, and getting iOS right is a full-time job. Android is on the roadmap but we’re not committing to dates.
